"$workflow_dir/workflow.yaml" | sed 's/:.*//')"; : "${target_name:?No target key found in generated workflow.yaml}"`; and (5) `cre workflow simulate "$workflow_name" --target "$target_name" --non-interactive --trigger-index 0`. For receiver-free handler-0 simulation, use the literal `private` in step 1, add the dedicated target/config below after setup, and run its exact command instead of deriving a generated default target. This is creation-only: never inspect, reference, or reuse an existing directory, and never claim that initialization, installation, setup, or simulation succeeded. Keep account IDs, credentials, and addresses as prerequisites, never samples.

## Prerequisites

- Authenticated CRE CLI (`cre login`; the user completes browser authentication)
- Go 1.25.3+ for Go workflows
- Bun 1.2.21+ for TypeScript workflows
- A funded Sepolia account only when simulation broadcasts or deployment needs gas
- An authenticated CRE CLI session for local simulation; an account/organization-scoped registry ID from `cre registry list` is required for registry-bound initialization, deployment, broadcast, and lifecycle operations, but the receiver-free local target below uses the supported literal `private` selector

## Non-interactive initialization

Agents always supply `--non-interactive`, `--project-name`, `--deployment-registry`, and a template. Omitting the registry can still prompt. Use the CLI-supported literal `private` for the receiver-free local scaffold below or an authenticated registry returned by `cre registry list` for a registry-bound path; never invent an ID.

For registry-bound initialization, an unattended wrapper must fail fast and validate every externally supplied value that `cre init` consumes:

```bash
#!/usr/bin/env bash
set -euo pipefail
: "${CRE_DEPLOYMENT_REGISTRY_ID:?Set an ID from cre registry list}"
```

Use the validated registry ID in `--deployment-registry "$CRE_DEPLOYMENT_REGISTRY_ID"` for that registry-bound path.

```bash
cre init
--non-interactive
--project-name my-project
--deployment-registry "$CRE_DEPLOYMENT_REGISTRY_ID"
--workflow-name my-workflow
--template hello-world-ts
```

`cre init` does not accept `--target`; it generates `workflow.yaml` with more than one target block by default — the built-in templates ship a `staging-settings` target (used throughout this skill's own examples) plus at least one more, such as `production`, each with its own target config JSON (for example `config.staging.json` and `config.production.json`). Never hand-pick or guess one of these names and never leave a `<placeholder>` in a command; derive the target programmatically from the generated file in the same run, immediately after `cre init`:

```bash
workflow_dir="$project_root/$workflow_name"
target_name="$(grep -m1 -E '^[A-Za-z0-9_.-]+:[[:space:]]*
"$workflow_dir/workflow.yaml" | sed 's/:.*//')"
: "${target_name:?No target key found in generated workflow.yaml}"
```

This reads the file's first top-level key — the target name itself, not a field literally called `target:` — because `workflow.yaml` has no such field. Use `$target_name` directly in the following simulate command; never stop the script to ask the user to copy it in by hand:

```bash
cre workflow simulate "$workflow_name" --target "$target_name" --non-interactive --trigger-index 0
```

An unattended wrapper must not require or default `CRE_TARGET` before `cre init`; the authoritative `workflow.yaml` does not exist yet, so that is a circular prerequisite. Initialize first, then read and assign the generated target before simulation in the same run.

### Receiver-free local simulation target

When handler 0 must run before a receiver is deployed, do not invent an account-scoped registry ID, receiver, or source-level harness. Initialize with the CLI-supported literal `--deployment-registry private`, then add one conspicuously local target with the same name in both generated YAML files:

```yaml
# project.yaml
local-simulation: {}
```

```yaml
# <workflow>/workflow.yaml
local-simulation:
user-workflow:
workflow-name: my-workflow-local-simulation
deployment-registry: "private"
workflow-artifacts:
workflow-path: "./main.ts"
config-path: "./config.local-simulation.json"
secrets-path: ""
```

`private` is a supported registry selector, not a placeholder ID. Never use `local-simulation`, `local-simulation-only`, a zero value, or another made-up value as `deployment-registry`. CLI login is still required, but a registry lookup and deployed receiver are not prerequisites for this non-broadcast run.

The local config must be visibly non-production and contain the prompt-supplied previous price as a decimal string:

```json
{
"mode": "local-simulation",
"samplePreviousPrice": "1234.56000000"
}
```

The handler's local branch must first perform the same real configured HTTP fetches, response checks, strict decimal validation and scaling, `bigint` bounds, consensus aggregation, and changed-price decision as production, using `samplePreviousPrice` as the previous value. It then logs and returns a result labeled `local-simulation` before receiver validation, CRE report creation, `EVMClient` construction, Forwarder delivery, or any other write-capable operation. The production branch must reject unknown modes, reject a missing, malformed, or zero receiver, construct the CRE report, deliver it through the Forwarder when a write is due, and fail closed on every validation or capability error.

Use [simulation.md](simulation.md)'s exact handler-0 command. Never select this target/config for `--broadcast`, deploy, update, activate, or another lifecycle command; every such path must select a production target whose config cannot set `mode: "local-simulation"`.

When a shared value (schedule, RPC, or other invariant) must stay identical across environments, enumerate every top-level target the same way and write the value into each one's referenced config file — never only the first:

```bash
mapfile -t all_targets < <(grep -E '^[A-Za-z0-9_.-]+:[[:space:]]*
"$workflow_dir/workflow.yaml" | sed 's/:.*//')
```

Repeat `--rpc-url chain-name=url` when a template requires RPC configuration. The `cre init` flag table is canonical here:

| Flag | Meaning | Non-interactive use |
|---|---|---|
| `--non-interactive` | Fail rather than prompt | Always |
| `-p, --project-name` | New project name | Required for a new project |
| `--deployment-registry` | Registry selector | Supply `private` for a receiver-free local scaffold or a verified registry ID for a registry-bound path; never fabricate an ID |
| `-w, --workflow-name` | Workflow name | Optional; template default otherwise |
| `-t, --template` | Template name | Supply explicitly |
| `--rpc-url` | Repeatable `chain-name=url` RPC | Template-dependent |
| `--refresh` | Bypass template cache and fetch GitHub | Only when fresh templates are needed |

Interactive `cre init` is for a present human only.

The generated `workflow.yaml` carries `deployment-registry` per target. Keep it explicit when editing or hand-writing a target: a target used only for lifecycle commands such as `cre workflow delete` still resolves through its registry, and an omitted key silently means the public onchain registry. Onchain targets need a linked funded wallet and an RPC URL; private-registry targets need neither. See [registries.md](registries.md).

## Templates

Built in and available offline:

- `hello-world-ts`
- `hello-world-go`

Registered Confidential Workflow templates:

- `hello-confidential-workflows-ts`
- `hello-confidential-workflows-go`

Discover current registered templates with `cre templates list --json`; `--refresh` bypasses the cache. The advanced confidential examples `ai-audit-firewall`, `automated-liquidation-protection`, and `automated-portfolio-rebalancing` are clone-only, not valid `-t` values; see [confidential-workflows.md](confidential-workflows.md).

For every non-hello-world workflow, replace or remove the generic template's default README, tutorial comments, sample handler/config/secrets, and unused dependencies before the first simulation. Never simulate the untouched template or present that run as validation of the requested workflow, and do not leave hello-world material beside the custom workflow.

If an answer mentions `--broadcast`, deployment, update, or activation, it must explicitly state the registry-appropriate prerequisites: CRE Early Access, browser-completed login (or `CRE_API_KEY`), uploaded Vault DON secrets when used, and a successful non-broadcast simulation — plus a linked funded wallet and RPC URL only for an onchain-registry target. State that a private-registry target needs no wallet, RPC URL, or gas.

## After initialization

TypeScript dependencies and WASM tooling must be installed from the generated workflow directory:

```bash
project_root="$(cd my-project && pwd)"
cd "$project_root/my-workflow"
bun install
bunx cre-setup
cd "$project_root"
```

`postinstall` may already run `cre-setup`; run it explicitly when install output does not confirm that. For Go, `cre init` creates `go.mod`; from the project root run `GOFLAGS=-mod=mod go mod tidy` if needed. If the module proxy stalls, retry with `GOPROXY=direct go mod tidy -v`; private-module environments may additionally need `GONOSUMCHECK=github.com/smartcontractkit/* GONOSUMDB=github.com/smartcontractkit/*`.

For Go, preserve the import paths and WASM runner emitted by the installed `hello-world-go` template; do not replace them from memory. When a complete `main.go` replacement is required, copy those exact version-matched imports and runner from the generated file, then change only the workflow-specific handler and configuration.

The block above is one automated shell sequence: capture `project_root` immediately after `cre init`, before entering any workflow or dependency subdirectory, and return to it before simulation. Never run `cd my-project` from inside `my-project/my-workflow`; that looks for a nonexistent nested project. Read [simulation.md](simulation.md) before using its canonical command.

## Generated configuration

Do not replace generated files with guessed examples or vague “generated files” placeholders; when the user asks for the full structure, show the concrete tree produced by `cre init`. Preserve the selected target across:

- root `project.yaml`: shared target/RPC configuration
- workflow `workflow.yaml`: workflow name, `deployment-registry`, entry/config/secrets paths per target
- target config JSON: runtime values (`runtime.config` in TypeScript; handler config parameter in Go)
- root `secrets.yaml`: secret IDs mapped to environment-variable names, never secret values

The default templates generate at least two targets (`staging-settings` and `production`); a requested schedule or other invariant must be written into every target's referenced config file, not only the one used for simulation — enumerate all targets as shown above rather than updating just the first match. Go's `go.mod` remains at the project root, never inside the workflow directory.

Keep `.env`, WASM output, and dependency/build directories out of version control. Never read secret-bearing `.env` or wallet files; authorized tools may consume them opaquely as described in [operations.md](operations.md).

## QuickJS/WASM fit

TypeScript compiles through Javy/QuickJS rather than Node.js. Use pure-JS packages only; `@chainlink/cre-sdk`, `zod`, and `viem` are compatible with API-level limits. QuickJS has no `URL` or `URLSearchParams` globals, so Zod 3.25.76's `z.string().url()` rejects valid URLs. Use a scoped `.regex()` or `.refine()` without those globals; see [concepts.md](concepts.md#zod-url-validation). Verify schemas in CRE simulation, not only Bun/Node. `ethers`, `axios`, `node-fetch`, `ws`, `dotenv`, native/N-API modules, and packages importing Node built-ins are incompatible. No `fs`, `path`, `crypto`, `process`, `http`, `https`, `net`, `stream`, `child_process`, `os`, `worker_threads`, `cluster`, `dgram`, `dns`, `tls`, `vm`, `zlib`, `readline`, Node `events`/`util`/`buffer`, timers, or Node `fetch`.

Use `Uint8Array`/`ArrayBuffer` rather than `Buffer`, CRE HTTP capability APIs rather than Node networking, `runtime.getSecret({ id }).result().value` rather than `process.env`, and deterministic logic (or Go `runtime.Rand()`) rather than Node crypto randomness. [concepts.md](concepts.md) owns the runtime model and compatibility details.

## Sources

- https://docs.chain.link/cre/reference/cli/project-setup-ts.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/reference/cli/project-setup-go.md
- https://github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-templates

"content_sha256":"66ebb4858ce6e5845c8bffdb38d669e17fef30da4582795e10f6244c0cb2bc1e
references/registries.md
# Registries

## Contents

- Choose a registry
- Registry selection in config
- Onchain registry
- Private registry
- Lifecycle per registry
- Secrets per registry
- Verify the active registry
- Quotas and access
- Not a confidentiality boundary
- Sources

Use for registry choice, onchain vs private differences, per-target registry routing, and registry-specific lifecycle or secret behavior. The choice is per target, not per project.

| | Onchain registry | Private registry |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | Ethereum Mainnet transaction | Chainlink-hosted off-chain registry |
| Authorization | Linked wallet key | CRE login session or `CRE_API_KEY` |
| Needs `CRE_ETH_PRIVATE_KEY` | Yes | No |
| Needs `project.yaml` RPC URL | Yes | No |
| Gas cost | Yes (mainnet) | None |
| Workflow owner | Linked wallet address | Organization owner address |
| Availability | General | Private registry beta; organization must be enabled |
| Confidentiality | None | None — see below |

`private` is a supported registry selector, not a placeholder ID. Never invent a registry ID; read the real ones from `cre registry list`.

## Registry selection in config

Each target declares its registry under `user-workflow`:

```yaml
# <workflow>/workflow.yaml
production:
user-workflow:
workflow-name: my-workflow-production
deployment-registry: "private" # or an ID from cre registry list
workflow-artifacts:
workflow-path: "./main.ts"
config-path: "./config.production.json"
secrets-path: "./secrets.yaml"
```

Rules:

- `deployment-registry` is optional in the CLI: when omitted, the target resolves to the public onchain registry (`onchain:ethereum-mainnet`), not to "whatever the workflow already uses". Set it explicitly in every generated or edited target, and treat an unknown registry as a verification gap, not an invite to guess.
- One `workflow.yaml` may mix registries: target A onchain, target B private.
- `init`, `deploy`, broadcast, and every lifecycle command route by the `--target` selected at call time.
- The docs describe no migration of an existing deployment between registries. Do not promise one; deploying under another registry is a separate registration with that registry's owner.

## Onchain registry

- Prerequisites: CRE Early Access (`cre account access`), browser `cre login` or a user-supplied `CRE_API_KEY`, a linked funded wallet (`cre account link-key --target <target>`), an RPC URL for each chain in `project.yaml`, and uploaded Vault DON secrets when used.
- The CLI consumes the wallet key from `CRE_ETH_PRIVATE_KEY`; the agent never reads it.
- The workflow owner is the linked wallet, which is also the address consumer contracts must authorize for onchain writes.
- `cre account unlink-key` irreversibly deletes all workflows registered under that address.

## Private registry

- Prerequisites: CRE CLI v1.15.0+, an authenticated session (`cre login` or `CRE_API_KEY`), `cre whoami` showing Deploy Access `Enabled`, and a private registry enabled for the organization (`cre registry list` shows an entry with `Type: off-chain`).
- No linked wallet key, no `CRE_ETH_PRIVATE_KEY`, no RPC URL in `project.yaml`, and no gas.
- Registered workflows are active immediately after deploy.
- The workflow owner is the organization owner address, which the CLI labels "(derived)". It matches **Organization address** in the CRE platform and the `ownerAddress` field of `cre workflow list --registry private --output json`.
- Consumer contracts that accept onchain writes from this workflow authorize the organization owner address, not a linked key — for example, pass it to `setExpectedAuthor()` on a `ReceiverTemplate` consumer.
- CI needs only `CRE_API_KEY` (no private key or RPC URL): `cre workflow deploy <dir> --target <target> --yes --non-interactive`.
- Private registry is beta; default quota is three workflows per organization.

## Lifecycle per registry

Deploy registers a paused workflow on the onchain registry, which then needs activate. A private-registry deploy is registered active immediately. Pause stops triggers but retains the deployment; delete removes it permanently.

Deletion specifics:

- `cre workflow delete` deletes **all workflow versions matching the given name and owner address**, not a single version. Re-using a workflow name therefore risks removing records the caller did not intend; confirm the name and owner before deleting, and prefer `cre workflow list --include-deleted` to see prior versions of that name.
- On the private registry the CLI shows the workflow details and prompts the operator to type the workflow name; `--yes` skips that prompt. `--unsigned` (return a raw transaction for multisig signing) applies only to the onchain registry; the private registry has no transaction.
- Deleted workflows stay hidden from `cre workflow list` unless `--include-deleted` is passed.

Registry routing applies to every lifecycle command:

```bash
cre workflow deploy <dir> --target <target> # also updates: same name redeploys
cre workflow activate <dir> --target <target>
cre workflow pause <dir> --target <target>
cre workflow delete <dir> --target <target>
```

There is no `cre workflow update`. Redeploying the same name replaces the previous deployment in that registry, keeps its active/paused status, and produces a new workflow ID.

## Secrets per registry

Onchain registry secrets are authorized through the linked wallet key. Private registry secrets are authorized through a browser OAuth (PKCE) flow, so add `--secrets-auth=browser`:

```bash
cre secrets create <secrets-file> --target <target> --secrets-auth=browser
cre secrets update <secrets-file> --target <target> --secrets-auth=browser
cre secrets list --target <target> --secrets-auth=browser
```

`--secrets-auth` defaults to `onchain` (wallet key); `browser` uses account credentials for the private registry. Do not pass a `workflow-owner-address` or wallet flag for the private registry path.

## Verify the active registry

```bash
cre registry list # IDs, labels, types, onchain addresses
cre workflow list --registry private --output json # ownerAddress per workflow
cre workflow get <dir> --target <target> # health + latest execution
cre workflow get <dir> --target <target> --all-registries # ignore the configured registry
```

`cre workflow get` scopes resolution to the workflow's configured `deployment-registry` by default; `--all-registries` is the escape hatch when the configured registry looks wrong.

If a lifecycle command behaves as though a wallet is missing, or the workflow is absent from `cre workflow list`, check `deployment-registry` for the selected target before anything else.

## Quotas and access

Registry quotas cover deployed workflows per organization (private registry defaults to three; onchain allows one linked key with three workflows per key), binary size, secrets, trigger frequency, and concurrency, and may change before general availability. Private registry is beta: request access through the deploy access process (`cre account access`) or a Chainlink contact, then confirm with `cre registry list`. Fetch current limits from `https://docs.chain.link/cre/service-quotas.md` rather than guessing.

## Not a confidentiality boundary

The private registry is a private, centralized control plane for workflow management. It does not make workflow execution confidential: a private-registry workflow still runs on the public DON and uses the same public HTTP trigger gateway. Confidential execution works with either registry; for it use [confidential-workflows.md](confidential-workflows.md).

## Sources

- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/operations/deploying-workflows.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/operations/deploying-to-onchain-registry.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/operations/deploying-to-private-registry-ts.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/reference/cli/registry.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/service-quotas.md

"content_sha256":"559f59863b02247a07976a50bf46cde911fd0aa4352e1a15fca63f9606accf3f
references/sdk-reference.md
# SDK Reference

## Contents

- TypeScript core
- TypeScript consensus
- TypeScript capabilities
- Go core
- Go EVM
- Go HTTP and triggers
- Sources

Exact API map for `@chainlink/cre-sdk` and `github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go`. Constraints accept `{}`, `{regions:[...]}`, or `[{tee:'nitro',regions:[...]}]`. See [confidential-workflows.md](confidential-workflows.md) for the security boundary.

## TypeScript consensus

Whole-value functions are called:

| Function | Input/result |
|---|---|
| `consensusMedianAggregation<T>()` | numeric (`number`, `bigint`, `Date`, `Decimal`, `Int64`, `UInt64`) → median |
| `consensusIdenticalAggregation<T>()` | any serializable value → identical |
| `consensusCommonPrefixAggregation<T>()` | arrays → common prefix |
| `consensusCommonSuffixAggregation<T>()` | arrays → common suffix |
| `consensusFrequencyListAggregation<T>()` | values → `FrequencyListEntry<T>[]` |

Each supports `.withDefault(value)`. Field aggregation is a function call with bare aggregator references:

```typescript
ConsensusAggregationByFields<Input, Output?>({
price: median, symbol: identical, observations: frequencyList, noise: ignore,
})
```

Other reference: `commonPrefix`, `commonSuffix`. Never use `ConsensusAggregationByFields` as a type, call field functions, or invent `{method:'median'}`/`method:'byFields'`. There is no `mode`.

## TypeScript capabilities

Top-level and `cre.capabilities.*` exports are the same class objects; top-level `handler`/`handlerInTee` equal `cre.handler`/`cre.handlerInTee`.

| Capability | Constructor |
|---|---|
| `EVMClient` | `new EVMClient(chainSelector: bigint)` |
| `SolanaClient` | `new SolanaClient(chainSelector: bigint)` |
| `HTTPClient` | `new HTTPClient()` |
| `ConfidentialHTTPClient` | `new ConfidentialHTTPClient()` |
| `HTTPCapability` | `new HTTPCapability()` |
| `CronCapability` | `new CronCapability()` |

There are no `EVMClientCapability`, `HTTPClientCapability`, or `EVMLogCapability` exports.

### EVM

```typescript
client.callContract(runtime, {
call: encodeCallMsg({from,to,data}),
blockNumber: LAST_FINALIZED_BLOCK_NUMBER,
}): { result(): CallContractReply }
```

`blockNumber` also accepts `LATEST_BLOCK_NUMBER` or `blockNumber(height)`. The wire tags match Go: `-3` finalized, `-2` latest. Do not pass `-1n` for latest. The full table is in [evm-client.md](evm-client.md).

`CallContractReply.data` is `Uint8Array`; convert with `bytesToHex` before `viem.decodeFunctionResult`. The chain is fixed by the client constructor.

```typescript
client.writeReport(runtime, {
receiver: string,
report: Report,
gasConfig?: { gasLimit: string },
}): { result(): WriteReportReply }
```

Reply: `txStatus: TxStatus`, optional `txHash: Uint8Array`, optional `errorMessage`. Supply every value the CLI would otherwise request:

| Flag | Use |
|---|---|
| `--target` | target from `workflow.yaml`; always |
| `--non-interactive` | forbid prompts |
| `--trigger-index` | 0-based handler; required with non-interactive mode |
| `--http-payload` | HTTP JSON string or JSON-file path (relative to the run directory) |
| `--evm-tx-hash` | transaction containing the selected log |
| `--evm-event-index` | 0-based log index when needed |
| `--evm-receipt-timeout` | receipt wait only, not overall timeout; CLI-version dependent |
| `--broadcast` | real testnet transaction via `MockKeystoneForwarder` |
| `--limits` | `default`, limits-file path, or `none` |
| `--skip-type-checks` | skip TypeScript checking |

There is no generic overall `--timeout`; confirm version-specific flags with `cre workflow simulate --help`.

Fully non-interactive examples:

```bash
cre workflow simulate my-workflow --target staging-settings
--non-interactive --trigger-index 0
--http-payload '{"key":"value"}'
```

```bash
cre workflow simulate my-workflow --target staging-settings
--non-interactive --trigger-index 1
--evm-tx-hash 0x... --evm-event-index 0
```

A single cron handler often needs only `--target`; add `--non-interactive --trigger-index 0` if selection still prompts. Exercise each handler in a separate non-interactive run.

## Receiver-free handler-0 simulation

Use the CRE CLI—not a source-level harness—when handler 0 must run before a receiver contract exists. Define [project-scaffolding.md](project-scaffolding.md)'s matching `local-simulation` targets in `project.yaml` and `workflow.yaml`; the workflow target uses the supported literal `deployment-registry: "private"`, never a guessed account-scoped registry ID, `local-simulation-only`, or a fake receiver.

Run this exact command from the project root:

```bash
cre workflow simulate <workflow> --target local-simulation --non-interactive --trigger-index 0
```

Keep `--broadcast` absent. This path still requires CRE CLI login, but it does not require an account-scoped registry ID or deployed receiver.

The selected config must set `mode: "local-simulation"` and a decimal-string `samplePreviousPrice`. Handler 0 must:

1. perform the same real configured HTTP capability fetches as production;
2. apply the same response/status checks, strict decimal validation and scaling, `bigint` bounds, and consensus aggregation;
3. validate and scale `samplePreviousPrice` by the same rules and run the normal changed-price/threshold decision; and
4. log and return a clearly labeled local result such as `{ mode: "local-simulation", currentPrice, previousPrice, changed, wouldWrite }`, with integer values stringified.

After step 4 the local branch returns. It must not validate or invent a receiver, construct a CRE report or `EVMClient`, call a Forwarder, accept a signer, or expose another write path. Do not replace real HTTP observations with injected fixtures or duplicate the handler in a local script.

Every non-local branch is production: reject unknown modes; require a configured, well-formed, nonzero receiver; retain CRE report creation and Forwarder delivery for each changed-price write; resolve every capability with `.result()`; and fail closed on validation, report, delivery, or missing-transaction-hash errors.

The local target is simulation-only. Never select it for `--broadcast`, deploy, update, activate, or another lifecycle command, and never allow a production target/config to set `mode: "local-simulation"`. Even if a user mistakenly appends `--broadcast`, the handler's early return must leave no report, EVM client, or transaction to send.

## Behavior by trigger

Simulation compiles to WASM, loads the selected target, fires/accepts a local trigger, calls real configured HTTP/RPC endpoints, and prints user logs/result. It is a local dry run by default and does not reproduce every deployed DON behavior.

- **Cron:** fires once immediately; it does not wait for the schedule.
- **HTTP:** interactive mode starts a local server on port 8080 and waits for a request; agents/CI should use `--http-payload`.
- **EVM log:** may monitor configured RPC for a match; deterministic runs provide `--evm-tx-hash`, optional `--evm-event-index`, and a handler index. The `--evm-tx-hash` path loads that one log from the receipt. It does not check `FilterAddressLimit` or `FilterTopicsPerSlotLimit`. Count those in the trigger config; the caps are in [triggers.md](triggers.md). The live listen path enforces the log event rate limit only.
- **Multiple handlers:** interactive behavior varies by CLI; automation always selects one handler per run.

| | Simulation | Deployment |
|---|---|---|
| Execution/consensus | local simulator | DON, multi-node consensus |
| Gas | none unless broadcast | real |
| Secrets | environment/`.env` consumed by CLI | Vault DON |
| RPC | configured endpoint | DON EVM capability |
| Writes | `MockKeystoneForwarder` with `--broadcast` | `KeystoneForwarder` |

Without `--broadcast`, simulation does not send a transaction and must remain the default first check. Never fabricate a zero transaction hash for this dry-run path or for a successful write whose response omitted `txHash`.

## Broadcast writes

```bash
cre workflow simulate my-workflow --target staging-settings --broadcast
```

This sends a real testnet transaction and requires a funded wallet available opaquely to the CLI; repeated writes on Base Sepolia require Base Sepolia test ETH. The consumer must trust the target chain's `MockKeystoneForwarder`, not its production forwarder; selector/forwarder values are canonical in [chain-selectors.md](chain-selectors.md) and must be refreshed from its official source before live use. Apply the user's authorization and never inspect key files.

## Focused failures

| Symptom | Cause / fix |
|---|---|
| `Select a target` | add `--target` |
| prompts for body/tx/handler | add matching payload flags plus `--non-interactive --trigger-index` |
| module not found (TS) | in generated workflow: `bun install`, then `bunx cre-setup`; see scaffolding |
| Go dependency stall | from project root try `GOPROXY=direct go mod tidy -v`; private-module environment may need `GONOSUMCHECK`/`GONOSUMDB` |
| `secret not found` | referenced environment variable is unavailable, or the CRE CLI v1.1.0 secret-name substring bug applies; see workflow patterns |
| `workflow-path not found` | run from project root and check the generated `workflow.yaml` relative path |
| `process`/`Buffer`/`crypto` undefined | Node API reached QuickJS; replace with CRE/typed-array/deterministic equivalents |
| `{"validation":"url","code":"invalid_string","message":"Invalid url","path":["perplApi"]}` for a valid HTTPS URL | Zod 3.25.76 `.url()` calls the missing QuickJS `URL` global; `URLSearchParams` is also unavailable. Return each registration from the local `initWorkflow`; never discard handler definitions or import/call an SDK `initWorkflow`. Every complete TypeScript example must include an executable `main` that creates `Runner` and runs that local `initWorkflow`; [workflow-patterns.md](workflow-patterns.md) supplies the canonical scaffolding. If the user asks for cron and HTTP/webhook behavior together — even as a question about which triggers the workflow supports — answer with one complete dual-handler path: imports, config and payload types, defined callbacks, both handler registrations, local `initWorkflow`, and `Runner`/`main`. Use `runtime.now()`/`runtime.Now()` for time and return serialized strings from TypeScript handlers; never replace this path with trigger names or registration fragments.

## Cron

TypeScript:

```typescript
const cron = new CronCapability()
const trigger = cron.trigger({ schedule: config.schedule })
// handler(trigger, (runtime: Runtime<Config>) => output)
```

Go: `cron.Trigger(&cron.Config{Schedule: config.Schedule})`; callback payload is `*cron.Payload`.

CRE cron schedules have exactly six fields:

```text
second minute hour day-of-month month day-of-week
```

Emit six fields everywhere a schedule appears, including source, target config JSON, workflow records, docs, and commands. Use `0 */5 * * * *` for every five minutes. If the user supplies a five-field schedule, preserve its meaning by prepending the seconds field `0`, or reject it clearly when normalization is unsafe; never emit the five-field form. Other examples: `*/30 * * * * *` every 30 seconds; `0 0 * * * *` hourly; `0 0 12 * * *` noon UTC. Default timezone is UTC; timezone-aware schedules use `CRON_TZ=America/New_York 0 0 9 * * *` (the timezone prefix is not a cron field). Cron callbacks obtain consensus time from `runtime.now()`/`runtime.Now()`; do not require or invent a `scheduledTime` payload field.

## HTTP trigger

TypeScript:

```typescript
const http = new HTTPCapability()
const trigger = http.trigger({ authorizedKeys: config.authorizedKeys })
const onHTTP = (
runtime: Runtime<Config>,
event: HTTPTriggerPayload,
): string => JSON.stringify({ status: 'ok', received: event.body })
```

Go uses the same `github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/capabilities/networking/http` package as the HTTP client — there is no separate `webhooktrigger` package:

```go
authorizedKeys := []*http.AuthorizedKey{
{Type: http.KeyType_KEY_TYPE_ECDSA_EVM, PublicKey: config.AuthorizedEVMAddress},
}
httpTrigger := http.Trigger(&http.Config{AuthorizedKeys: authorizedKeys})
```

The callback payload is `*http.Payload`: `Input []byte` is the raw JSON request body (`json.Unmarshal` it), `Key` is the authorized signer that triggered the run.

TypeScript `HTTPTriggerPayload` supplies the request body to the handler; consume `event.body` and return a serialized string rather than depending on an assumed `event.url` field. Deployed HTTP triggers require authorized Ethereum public-key addresses; an empty authorized-senders list is valid only for simulation, where approved senders may be omitted. Deployed requests use the documented JSON-RPC/JWT signature flow; never handle the caller's private signing key. For simulation inputs and `--http-payload`, see [simulation.md](simulation.md).

## EVM log trigger

There is no TypeScript `EVMLogCapability`. Resolve the selector with `getNetwork`, construct `new EVMClient(network.chainSelector.selector)`, then use:

```typescript
evmClient.logTrigger({
addresses: string[],
topics: TopicValues[],
confidence?: ConfidenceLevel,
}): Trigger<Log, Log>
```

The SDK `Log`/`EVMLog` payload contains address, topics, data, block number, and transaction hash in protobuf-shaped fields; byte fields are `Uint8Array`. Low-level address/topic filters require the SDK's documented base64 encoding, and indexed values must be padded to 32 bytes; do not invent an encoder. Generated bindings are safer and expose per-event helpers such as `binding.logTriggerLargeTransfer()`.

### Limits

`cre workflow limits export` prints the limits for the installed CLI. That command is the source of truth when it disagrees with this file. The product list is https://docs.chain.link/cre/service-quotas.md. CLI v1.35.0 and that page agree on these caps:

| Cap | Value |
|---|---|
| `LogTrigger.FilterAddressLimit` | 5 contract addresses on one log trigger |
| `LogTrigger.FilterTopicsPerSlotLimit` | 10 values in one topic position |
| `LogTrigger.EventRateLimit` | 10 events every 6 seconds |
| `LogTrigger.EventSizeLimit` | 5 KB |
| `TriggerSubscriptionLimit` | 10 triggers on one workflow |
| `ChainRead.CallLimit` | 15 EVM reads in one execution |

Re-run the export after a CLI upgrade. A watch of more than 5 contracts needs more than one log trigger. Split the addresses into groups of at most 5. Those triggers, plus any cron or HTTP trigger, must stay within 10 subscriptions. One cron leaves room for 9 log triggers.

`cre workflow simulate --evm-tx-hash` loads one receipt log and does not apply `FilterAddressLimit` or `FilterTopicsPerSlotLimit`. A passing replay does not prove the filter fits. Count the addresses and topic values in the trigger config. See [simulation.md](simulation.md).

Go prefers generated binding helpers for a single event on a single contract — resolve the chain selector by name (never invent one; look it up in [chain-selectors.md](chain-selectors.md)), bind the contract, and register the generated `LogTrigger<Event>Log` helper. The callback receives a decoded, type-safe payload, not a raw byte-oriented struct:

Save this complete minimal ABI as `contracts/evm/src/MyToken.abi`, then generate the binding:

```json
[
{
"anonymous": false,
"inputs": [
{"indexed": true, "name": "from", "type": "address"},
{"indexed": true, "name": "to", "type": "address"},
{"indexed": false, "name": "value", "type": "uint256"}
],
"name": "Transfer",
"type": "event"
}
]
```

```bash
cre generate-bindings evm
```

The generated binding import must start with the exact `module` value from the generated project's root `go.mod`. The complete example below uses this explicit reversible sample module (sample only):

```go
module example.com/cre-transfer-sample
```

If the generated `go.mod` declares a different module, replace `example.com/cre-transfer-sample` in the import with that exact value; never leave an unresolved module placeholder.

```go
package main
import (
"fmt"
"log/slog"
"github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/common"
"github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/capabilities/blockchain/evm"
"github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/capabilities/blockchain/evm/bindings"
"github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/cre"
"github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/cre/wasm"
"example.com/cre-transfer-sample/contracts/evm/src/generated/my_token" // generated by `cre generate-bindings evm`
)
type Config struct {
ChainSelectorName string
TokenAddress string
}
type TransferLog struct {
From, To string
Amount string
}
func onTransfer(config *Config, runtime cre.Runtime, payload *bindings.DecodedLog[my_token.TransferDecoded]) (*TransferLog, error) {
logger := runtime.Logger()
from, to, value := payload.Data.From, payload.Data.To, payload.Data.Value
logger.Info("Transfer detected", "from", from.Hex(), "to", to.Hex(), "value", value.String())
return &TransferLog{From: from.Hex(), To: to.Hex(), Amount: value.String()}, nil
}
func InitWorkflow(config *Config, _ *slog.Logger, _ cre.SecretsProvider) (cre.Workflow[*Config], error) {
chainSelector, err := evm.ChainSelectorFromName(config.ChainSelectorName)
if err != nil {
 return nil, fmt.Errorf("failed to resolve chain selector: %w", err)
}
client := &evm.Client{ChainSelector: chainSelector}
tokenContract, err := my_token.NewMyToken(client, common.HexToAddress(config.TokenAddress), nil)
if err != nil {
 return nil, fmt.Errorf("failed to bind contract: %w", err)
}
logTrigger, err := tokenContract.LogTriggerTransferLog(chainSelector, evm.ConfidenceLevel_CONFIDENCE_LEVEL_FINALIZED, nil)
if err != nil {
 return nil, fmt.Errorf("failed to create log trigger: %w", err)
}
return cre.Workflow[*Config]{
 cre.Handler(logTrigger, onTransfer),
}, nil
}
func main() {
wasm.NewRunner(cre.ParseJSON[Config]).Run(InitWorkflow)
}
```

Callback signatures always return a pointer output type (`(*TransferLog, error)`, never a bare `string`/struct), and `payload.Log` (not shown above) carries raw metadata — `BlockNumber *pb.BigInt`, `TxHash []byte`, `Index uint32` — for cases that need it. Without generated bindings, low-level registration uses the EVM log trigger/filter request types from the installed SDK (`evm.FilterLogTriggerRequest{Addresses: [][]byte{...}, Topics: []*evm.TopicValues{...}}`); the handler then receives a raw `*evm.Log` whose `Topics` are `[][]byte` — decode an indexed `address` with `common.BytesToAddress(log.Topics[n][12:])`. Legacy project templates may instead expose `evmlogtrigger.Trigger(evmlogtrigger.Config{...})`; match whichever payload type the installed SDK/template actually declares rather than assuming one shape.

Event signatures omit names/spaces: `Transfer(address,address,uint256)`, `Approval(address,address,uint256)`, `OwnershipTransferred(address,address)`. Only indexed parameters can be topic-filtered. Use finalized confidence unless the product explicitly accepts reorg risk; constants are in [concepts.md](concepts.md).

## Composition

Register several trigger/callback pairs in one workflow when they share config, secrets, and consumers; instantiate each capability once. Separate workflows only for distinct chains, lifecycles, namespaces, or ownership. For non-interactive simulation, run each handler independently with `--trigger-index` and matching HTTP/EVM inputs.

Canonical multi-trigger TypeScript example — schedule plus webhook, complete and runnable, not a fragment to finish with prose:

```typescript
import { CronCapability, HTTPCapability, Runner, handler, type HTTPTriggerPayload, type Runtime } from '@chainlink/cre-sdk'
type Config = { schedule: string; authorizedKeys: string[] }
const onCronTrigger = (runtime: Runtime<Config>): string =>
JSON.stringify({ status: 'ok', triggeredAt: runtime.now().toISOString() })
const onHTTP = (runtime: Runtime<Config>, event: HTTPTriggerPayload): string =>
JSON.stringify({ status: 'ok', received: event.body })
const initWorkflow = (config: Config) => [
handler(new CronCapability().trigger({ schedule: config.schedule }), onCronTrigger),
handler(new HTTPCapability().trigger({ authorizedKeys: config.authorizedKeys }), onHTTP),
]
export async function main() {
const runner = await Runner.newRunner<Config>()
await runner.run(initWorkflow)
}
```

## Sources

- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/using-triggers/cron-trigger-ts.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/using-triggers/cron-trigger-go.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/using-triggers/http-trigger/configuration-ts.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/using-triggers/http-trigger/configuration-go.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/using-triggers/evm-log-trigger-ts.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/using-triggers/evm-log-trigger-go.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/reference/sdk/triggers/overview-go.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/service-quotas.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/operations/understanding-limits.md

"content_sha256":"7ac08a1546cc44912ec065cb0845787ee9a7167572c63cf91c3bfadc7655d5d5
references/workflow-patterns.md
# Workflow Patterns

## Contents

- Canonical handler model
- Generated configuration
- Secret APIs
- DON Time and randomness
- Capability completion
- Generation checks
- Sources

Use for the trigger/callback model, generated configuration, secrets, DON Time, randomness, and handler composition. This file owns the base cron registration examples.

CRE cron schedules emitted in source, target config JSON, workflow records, docs, or commands must contain exactly six fields: seconds, minutes, hours, day of month, month, and day of week. Normalize a user-supplied five-field schedule by prepending `0` when that preserves its meaning; otherwise reject it clearly rather than emitting five fields.

```typescript
import { CronCapability, Runner, handler, type Runtime } from '@chainlink/cre-sdk'
type Config = { schedule: string }
const onCronTrigger = (runtime: Runtime<Config>): string => {
runtime.log(`Triggered at ${runtime.now().toISOString()}`)
return 'done'
}
const initWorkflow = (config: Config) => [
handler(new CronCapability().trigger({ schedule: config.schedule }), onCronTrigger),
]
export async function main() {
const runner = await Runner.newRunner<Config>()
await runner.run(initWorkflow)
}
```

Go's canonical registration is `cre.Handler(cron.Trigger(&cron.Config{Schedule: config.Schedule}), onCronTrigger)` inside the `cre.Workflow[*Config]` returned by `InitWorkflow`, with the WASI entry point wired in `main`:

```go
package main
import (
"log/slog"
"github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/capabilities/scheduler/cron"
"github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/cre"
"github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/cre/wasm"
)
type Config struct {
Schedule string
}
func onCronTrigger(config *Config, runtime cre.Runtime, payload *cron.Payload) (string, error) {
runtime.Logger().Info("triggered", "time", runtime.Now().String())
return "done", nil
}
func InitWorkflow(config *Config, _ *slog.Logger, _ cre.SecretsProvider) (cre.Workflow[*Config], error) {
return cre.Workflow[*Config]{
 cre.Handler(cron.Trigger(&cron.Config{Schedule: config.Schedule}), onCronTrigger),
}, nil
}
func main() {
wasm.NewRunner(cre.ParseJSON[Config]).Run(InitWorkflow)
}
```

The callback shape is `func onCronTrigger(config *Config, runtime cre.Runtime, payload *cron.Payload) (Output, error)`. Keep the entry style generated by the selected template: define/export `main` and wire its Runner exactly as shown, calling `main()` explicitly only when that template's entry point expects it. HTTP trigger imports add `github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/capabilities/networking/http` (the same package as the HTTP client — there is no separate webhook-trigger package); add `github.com/smartcontractkit/cre-sdk-go/capabilities/blockchain/evm` (and its `bindings` subpackage when using generated contract bindings) for EVM triggers/reads/writes — see [triggers.md](triggers.md) and [evm-client.md](evm-client.md) for those complete examples. Import only the packages the workflow actually calls; an unused import fails compilation.

For shared config/secrets/consumer state, register several handlers in one `initWorkflow`/`InitWorkflow` and instantiate each capability once. Separate workflows only for independent chains/config, lifecycle, secret namespaces, or consumer ownership. A request combining cron and HTTP/webhook behavior must follow the single complete dual-handler TypeScript path in [triggers.md](triggers.md), including imports, config and payload types, defined callbacks, both registrations, local `initWorkflow`, `Runner`/`main`, `runtime.now()` for time, and serialized string returns; trigger names or registration fragments are not an answer.

## Generated configuration

`cre init` creates these owners; edit generated files rather than reconstructing them:

| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
| root `project.yaml` | target-wide EVM selector/RPC settings |
| workflow `workflow.yaml` | per-target workflow name, registry, entry, config, and secrets paths |
| target config JSON | values exposed as `runtime.config` (TS) or handler config (Go) |
| root `secrets.yaml` | workflow secret IDs mapped to environment-variable names |

When a secrets/config scaffold is requested, show the concrete root `project.yaml`, workflow `workflow.yaml` entry (including the target `config-path`), target config JSON such as `config.staging.json`, root `secrets.yaml`, and `.gitignore`. Include `cre secrets list --target <target>` and route any create/update command through [operations.md](operations.md).

Example shape, not a project scaffold:

```yaml
# secrets.yaml: IDs and environment references only
secretsNames:
MY_API_KEY:
- MY_API_KEY_VAR
```

```yaml
# workflow.yaml: the built-in templates generate at least two top-level targets
staging-settings:
user-workflow:
workflow-name: my-workflow-staging
deployment-registry: "private" # or an ID from cre registry list
workflow-artifacts:
workflow-path: ./main.ts
config-path: ./config.staging.json
secrets-path: ../secrets.yaml
production:
user-workflow:
workflow-name: my-workflow-production
deployment-registry: "<onchain registry ID>"
workflow-artifacts:
workflow-path: ./main.ts
config-path: ./config.production.json
secrets-path: ../secrets.yaml
```

`deployment-registry` is set per target and decides where deploy (including redeploy-to-update), activate, pause, and delete resolve; targets in one file may use different registries. When omitted, the CLI uses the public onchain registry, so always write it explicitly and never infer it from the workflow's existing registration — read [registries.md](registries.md) before writing it, and never guess an ID.

Preserve target names and the meaning of all user-specified schedules, plus all units, decimals, selectors, addresses, resource IDs, and secret names across code/config/docs/simulation. Normalize every five-field cron schedule to the equivalent six-field CRE form by prepending `0`, or reject it clearly if normalization is unsafe; this applies equally to target config JSON and workflow records. A target config JSON block must be strictly valid JSON: never put a `//` or `#` comment inside the fenced block — label the file's path in the prose sentence that introduces it — and it must include every field the declared TypeScript `Config` type or Go `Config` struct reads (a config that omits a field the handler uses, such as `schedule`, is not a runnable workflow). When more than one target shares an invariant, that field's value must match across every target's config file, not only the one shown first.

### Receiver-free local simulation config

For a handler-0 simulation before its receiver exists, model configuration as two closed variants and validate it with the runner's Standard Schema:

```typescript
type Config =
| { mode: 'local-simulation'; samplePreviousPrice: string; receiver?: never }
| { mode: 'production'; receiver: string; samplePreviousPrice?: never }
```

Add the prompt's shared endpoints, schedule, decimals, threshold, and other fields to both variants. Reject unknown modes, a receiver in the local variant, and `samplePreviousPrice` in the production variant. The sample must pass the same strict decimal syntax, scaling, sign/range, and `bigint` overflow checks as fetched prices.

Use this canonical positive-decimal-to-E8 conversion for fetched prices and `samplePreviousPrice`; never derive padding from the full string length or the decimal point's absolute index:

```typescript
const UINT256_MAX = (1n << 256n) - 1n
const E8 = 100_000_000n
function parsePositiveDecimalE8(value: string): bigint {
const match = /^(0|[1-9]\\d*)(?:\\.(\\d{1,8}))?$/.exec(value)
if (!match) {
throw new Error('price must be a positive base-10 decimal with at most 8 fractional digits')
}
const [, whole, fraction = ''] = match
const fractionE8 = fraction.padEnd(8, '0')
const scaled = BigInt(whole) * E8 + BigInt(fractionE8)
if (scaled <= 0n || scaled > UINT256_MAX) {
throw new Error('scaled price is outside uint256 bounds')
}
return scaled
}
```

The input grammar accepts at most eight fractional digits, then pads that captured fraction to eight digits: `3500.12345678` becomes `350012345678n`. It rejects over-precision rather than rounding or truncating, along with signs, exponent notation, whitespace, leading-zero integers, missing whole/fractional digits, zero, and uint256 overflow. Generated local tests must include a focused assertion that `parsePositiveDecimalE8('3500.123456789')` throws.

Do not put the branch at the top of handler 0. First run the normal real HTTP capability requests, response/status checks, decimal conversion, bounds checks, and consensus aggregation. Then:

- `local-simulation`: compare the consensus price with the validated and scaled sample previous price, run the normal changed-price/threshold decision, log and return a result explicitly labeled `local-simulation`, and stop before receiver validation, CRE report creation, `EVMClient` construction, or Forwarder delivery.
- `production`: validate the configured receiver as a well-formed nonzero address, obtain the real previous value when required, run the changed-price decision, create the CRE report and deliver it through the Forwarder when a write is due, and fail closed on every validation, capability, report, delivery, or missing-transaction-hash error.

Never inject fixture observations into the local branch: it exists to exercise the handler's actual HTTP and consensus path through `cre workflow simulate`. Never deploy or broadcast a config with `mode: "local-simulation"`; those commands must select a production target. The early return must also make an accidentally broadcast local invocation incapable of constructing or sending a transaction. See [simulation.md](simulation.md) for the exact handler-0 command and [project-scaffolding.md](project-scaffolding.md) for the matching local/private target.

## Secret APIs

Simulation values come from an environment or `.env` consumed by the CLI; deployed values come from Vault DON. `secrets.yaml` stores no value. Lifecycle commands and custody rules are in [operations.md](operations.md).

For an ordinary authenticated API request, default to the root `secrets.yaml` ID-to-environment mapping, resolve the value in DON mode with `runtime.getSecret({ id: 'MY_API_KEY' }).result().value`, and pass that value into the regular authenticated HTTP capability request. Do not replace this path with a raw Vault placeholder such as `{{.MY_API_KEY}}`, `vaultDonSecrets`, Confidential HTTP, or a TEE pattern unless the user explicitly requests Confidential HTTP, request-level confidentiality, or TEE execution.

TypeScript is synchronous and object-shaped:

```typescript
const value = runtime.getSecret({ id: 'MY_API_KEY' }).result().value
const values = runtime.getSecrets([{ id: 'KEY_A' }, { id: 'KEY_B' }]).result()
```

Never `await` or pass a bare string. Missing or unauthorized secret resolution fails; catch it only when the workflow has a real fallback. `TeeRuntime` has the same API. `NodeRuntime` has no secret provider; fetch in DON mode and pass the value as an argument to `runInNodeMode`.

Go:

```go
secret, err := runtime.GetSecret(&cre.SecretRequest{Id: "MY_API_KEY"}).Await()
```

`secret.Value` is the value. Batch with `GetSecrets([]*cre.SecretRequest{...}).Await()`. When a secret feeds an external HTTP call, resolve the secret in DON mode *before* entering node mode (`NodeRuntime`/Go node context has no secret provider) and pass the resolved value as an argument into `runInNodeMode`/`RunInNodeMode`, which itself must carry a consensus aggregator — never skip aggregation because the call is secret-backed; see [http-client.md](http-client.md).

An end-to-end API-key example must actually pass the resolved value into an authenticated capability request; retrieval followed only by a comment or unused value is incomplete. A requested full deployed-secret lifecycle must include list, create, update, and delete, plus the Early Access, login, linked-funded-wallet, uploaded-secret, simulation, permanence, and confirmation requirements owned by [operations.md](operations.md).

### CRE CLI v1.1.0 secret-name substring bug

Resolution can fail with `secret not found` when the environment-variable name is a substring/prefix of the secret ID, for example `GEMINI_API_KEY` for `GEMINI_API_KEY_SECRET`. Use a non-overlapping environment name such as `GEMINI_API_KEY_VAR`:

```yaml
secretsNames:
GEMINI_API_KEY_SECRET:
- GEMINI_API_KEY_VAR
```

## DON Time and randomness

Use `runtime.now()` (TypeScript) or `runtime.Now()` (Go), never `Date.now()`, `new Date()`, `time.Now()`, or other system clocks in DON mode. DON Time is a consensus median with limited resolution; do not depend on sub-second precision.

Go randomness must come from `runtime.Rand()`:

```go
source, err := runtime.Rand()
if err != nil { return nil, err }
small := source.Intn(100)
large := new(big.Int).Rand(source, new(big.Int).SetUint64(1_000_000))
```

Never use global `math/rand` or `crypto/rand` in DON mode. TypeScript has no runtime randomness API.

## Capability completion

TypeScript capability/secret/report calls return lazy handles resolved with `.result()`; they are not JavaScript promises:

```typescript
const response = httpClient.sendRequest(runtime, fetchFn, aggregation)(url).result()
const call = evmClient.callContract(runtime, options).result()
const report = runtime.report(prepareReportRequest(encoded)).result()
```

Go capability calls return `cre.Promise[T]`; `.Await()` returns `(T, error)` and drives the single-threaded event loop.

For TypeScript config validation, pass a Standard Schema such as Zod to `Runner.newRunner({ configSchema })`.

## Generation checks

- Return requested workflow code, concrete configuration, supporting contract/interface, and commands themselves; never substitute a completion summary or unverified claim that they ran.
- Default to TypeScript only when prompt/repository does not indicate Go.
- Use `cre init` after reading scaffolding; do not fabricate project files.
- Use regular HTTP unless request-level confidentiality is required; whole-handler confidentiality is a separate TEE capability.
- Aggregate external/node-mode results; use scaled integers/decimal strings for business values and `bigint` for Solidity integers.
- For every generated local price workflow, include and run a focused parser test that accepts `3500.12345678` as `350012345678n` and rejects the over-precision input `3500.123456789`.
- Convert `bigint` to string before `JSON.stringify`.
- Include the minimal consumer/ABI/interface/relay/mock boundary needed for a coherent integration.
- Read simulation before providing its command and always include `--target`.

## Sources

- https://docs.chain.link/cre/reference/project-configuration-ts.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/secrets.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/time-in-workflows-ts.md
- https://docs.chain.link/cre/guides/workflow/using-randomness.md

"content_sha256":"4ba0b5af59f95ff4a8fddb6082979a93b4990046c3f91ad60451fdb20f681c6c
Every requested workflow, code file, contract/interface, config, or command is emitted in full in the response body — never a completion summary, a "here's what I did" recap, or an unverified success claim. Chainlink CRE Skill Route with this table; load no speculative references. Answer Contract Every requested workflow, code file, contract/interface, config, or command is emitted in full in the response body — never a completion summary, a "here's what I did" recap, or an unverified success claim. A request to create or build a CRE workflow — including "help me get started" only when it asks to build that workflow — requires a complete runnable project: use clearly labeled safe sample values only for missing, genuinely non-sensitive, reversible inputs; list sensitive values, account-scoped IDs…
